Hi guys,
Did a brew yesterday and measured the OG before storing in the light box.
The temp of the liquid from memory was about 26 when I measured it and got a reading of 1044.
Should I be waiting for the liquid temp to drop before I measure OG or is that not an issue to be worrying about?

I wouldn't be worrying when checking OG, but would definately wait before pitching yeast!

What's the problem?

I agree. An easy way that works for me to get the right reading at any temp is to add 2 to the last digit of the reading for every degree above 20 (assuming the instrument is calibrated to 20C) or subtract 2 from the last digit for every degree below 20. Had no problems with this method so far and has seemed to be close to what I get from software calculated figures.
