Locally Produced, Foreign Label Beer

A Crown Lager used to be enough to make the bogan look sophisticated. The “golden microphone” was in the right hand whenever a birthday speech, awards speech, or other special occasion occurred. Crown was first released to the Australian public to commemorate the Queen’s visit in 1954 ...

New Coopers Mild Ale Radio Ads

Hey Gents,

Anyone heard these new ads on the radio?

I think they are pretty good.

Although, life is too short to drink mid strength beer :D

Cheers,

Matt

Re: Rotten Egg / Dead Rat Smell

Thanks Greg

I was hoping that would be the case but I have never experienced the smell quite so strong before. I immediately thought it was stuffed.

Hopefully it turns out to be a decent brew :D

Cheers and thanks again,

Matt

Rotten Egg / Dead Rat Smell

G'Day Guys,

First of all let me say "Hi" I have been browsing around here for a while and there is great information on here so thank you all.

I have put down my 4th or 5th brew on Monday night and I got home yesterday and the house smelt like rotton eggs. So I aired the house out etc checked the ...

I usually wash mine in sterilized solution as well. Sometimes it gets in under the plastic bit and I cant get it out. All beers have been ok so far but I am worried it might kill the beer one day. I was thinking of using new ones each time. Do you guys wash / soak them?

Sorry my fault there. It should say hops not yeast.

It's been a long week. I havent even had a drink yet

I might try that trick with the yeast in my next brew. I still have the kit stuff in the fridge.

Thanks for the tip

Yeah. I think I will leave all my beers in for 2 weeks no matter what the temps.

I don't really have room or time for racking ATM. Maybe one day if I can be bothered.

I think my last brew was infected. It tasted ok and it smelt alright but I actually passed out after drinking it. I think it was due to an infection. I had 18 schooners though..

Apparently the hair has a similar effect to adding hops.
My last brew worked out quite nice. Instead of going to your local HBS try the hairdresser. Sweep up the hair at the end of the day.

Can of Coopers Bitter
25Gms Blonde hair @ 10mins
25Gms Red hair @ 30mins

When racking to secondary add 1 ...

Have a few beers waiting for me in the fridge at home. This is my 2nd brew ever which is ready to drink.

Coopers Canadian Blonde
1 KG BE1
500GMS LDME

I am really looking forward to it. This will be the first home brew I have ever tried that is not made with a KG of sugar. My old man used to make ...

Carbonation required for malt beers

Hey Everyone,

I read somewhere that malt beers do not require as much priming as beer made with say sucrose becuase more fermentable materials stay behind in the bottle to help carbonation priming.

With the brew I have on at the moment I have used 1.5kgs of Liquid Malt.
Should I still use 2 ...

Tap Water

Just wondering how many people just use plain old tap water to fill up the fermenter. How many people use bottled or springt water / cooled boiled water etc.....

For my first 3 brews I have used a 15 litre neverfail bottle and topped the rest up with tap water.

Not sure if it is worth the trouble ...

OK, I have deceided that tonight is the night.
After dinner when the kitchen is cleaned up (and I have had a few beers) I will take another FG. If it is still the same I will be bottling away.
Then clean out the fermenter to get her ready to roll again.

I will be tearing up concrete to the HBS ...

How many Schooners/Stubbies per day?

Just wondering how many drinks you guys have on a daily basis?

I go through phases where I might drink 5 or 6 a day more on Friday/Saturday nights.

Then I might go for a few weeks where I dont drink during the week at all.
Usually always drink Fri and Sat night without fail.
