High FG coopers green fermemted so quick!

Post by chadjaja »

All this batch is another Coopers green can with brew enhancer 2 as the other bactch after 2 months is a great drop enjoyed by all.

I put this in on Thursday night, pitched at 24 degrees and it started bubbling away only hours after. Its been sitting at 18-19 since then and airlock has shown no sign of activity since yesterday morning. I checked the gravity and it was at 1012 then. Checked it tonight and its at 1012.

I just would of thought despite it being a cooopers yeast 4 days at that temp is not enough to ferment this brew out. And with only the ingrediants used the FG is that high. Pretty sure my other batches have gone down to 1008 using brew enhancer and the kit only. Damn I need to keep records better.

I will prob let it sit till say Sunday or Monday anyway.

Any thoughts?

Give the fermenter a little swirl around (trying not to splash the wort) to stir up the yeasties in the bottom, that should get her goin' again. If that fails you might need to re-pitch
Thats it, you people have stood in my way long enough, I'm going to clown college

1.012 doesn't sound too high to me. Coopers yeast can certainly ferment that brew in 4 days at those temps. I say test gravity again tonight and if it is the same go ahead and bottle.
Prost and happy brewing!

Just watch that you dont end up with what I did....

I ended up chilling a few bottles, taking caps off, venting gas and recapping with sanitised caps...

See how that goes..

i think 1012 is fine too...

at 25C you'd expect the majority of the fermentation to be complete. I usually leave my beers for a week regardless (simply because i usually brew on the weekend).

I figure, if you've had activity in the fermenter (airlock bubbling), and the temp has been constant... there is no reason why the yeast would stop unless it had completed fermentation. So if its the airlock has stopped bubbling chances are its done diddly.. They dont go on strike or stop for smoko... they just go till there is nothing left to eat.
