And pronounced Louvenbrow? One of the things that annoy me is when everyone pronounces it Lowenbrow.

I normally quote both when ever i mention it so i end up with funny looks on both sides. Still doesn't feel right saying it the right way.

Obviously my phonetic translation might not be 100%, as I'm not a literary scholar. I can say it better than I can phonetically spell it.

I envy the guys who have all these fantastic beers on tap.
I'd say the only "different" beer the local bowlo has is Reschs Draught. Not that I don't enjoy an odd schooner here and there.

It could be a beer that the more you drink the more accurate you pronounce the name :D

Suggest none of us get too wound up about pronunciation & phonetics.

Many high profile media presenters come out with howlers, including those from the ABC. Had one local announcer from that august institution referring to the tennis at "WimbleTon" for two or three years until someone (not me) set her straight. Where the hell did she get the "T" from?

But, how can anyone explain the Aust (NSW & Qld at any rate) pronunciation of that dark red shade "maroon"? "MER-RONE"? Have been pooh poohed when suggesting the pronunciation come from Italian. But apparently it does, via marron (French) from marrone (Italian), and probably pronounced "mer-rony", and we have shortened this to "mer-rone".

If you guys worry about how to pronounce "Lowenbrau', how do you think you would go in QLD or NSW, pronouncing "maroon" as it is spelt, and as it is pronounced in the rest of the English speaking world?

Relax, and have another beer.
Cheers,

Pacman

but anyhoo - have a beer, i know i am :D

drinking one of my early brews - not great, but good. still better than megaswill.

You have to be Belgian or Dutch to pronounce it properly, as Hoegaarden is Flemish.
It should be whoog ardun, and the g is soft like the ch at the end of the Scottish word loch.
Try to get your head around that one. I'm lucky I can because I'm a clogwog. Great beer though.
