thats the original, but being an oap if u count up the cost of that brew
its getting out of my available pocket money. Also I had very mixed results with getting starters from the original Hoegaarden dregs, all ready to brew and the little sods are lying on their backs, little legs and arms in ...

Thks Ed
Yes I used a bag for the grain last week, but found that when u lift from the
wort it seemed to me that no matter how much water I used to rinse the grain with, I still thought that a lot of the malt/grain was retained in the cake. Hence my Q. Today I boiled up the grain malt hops loose in ...

Couple of q's for the more experianced
When using grain as adjuncts can you crack it too fine
and second can you over pitch with dry yeast packets. First question arises branching out from k+k, second have heaps of kit yeast in fridge don't like to just throw away, thinking for summer quaffer add ...

THB,
Thks for the link, feel like I have just reinvented the wheel.
Just for your info, if I'm doing a mixed batch of stubbies and longnecks I just assume they are all stubbies and and prime for 60 bots, 1 shot for stubbies 2 for longnecks.
As u said this is quick, clean and as near to bulk priming ...

I've been using a method for some time now that has given me consistant results across stouts, ales and lagers
I have a 1lt spirit bottle with a 15ml shot pourer
Just assume every brew is 23lt and 30 bottles

8gm x 23 = 184 gm
30bot x 15ml = 450ml

prepare the same as bulk priming and one shot per ...

I'll pass this on as my contribution to saving water which I've used for my last 8 brews, which (touch wood) hasn't caused any problems. It would seem to me that the only part of 30 lts of sanitized water which does any work in the fernenter is that bit immediately in contact with the fermenter wall ...

its not until u see the answers that u realise how stupid your question was. What I should have said was does anyone know how many points say 500gms of added honey would raise the og. Wassa have just put down the mahogany from your discussion on that brew. and ended up with 1045
Tassie I followed ...

thks Shaun, I should have pointed out that taking that into account I always re-package if I'm going to experiment with split portions, giving the original a good mixup before using. So far so good, but well worth u pointing out the pitfalls

added sugars

Does anyone know what makes up the various beer kit enhancers that are available. Just looking thru some of the crib sheets supplied one has seven different, named additives another at least 12. and of course most HBS have their own. Since I usually end up over time with bags of left overs if I ...

Have a wheat beer down that went from 1048 og to 1020 which was still pretty active. I racked at 1020 but there has been no change in the sg for two days and no activity. What is a bit of a puzzle taking a sg and leaving the hydrometer in the sample, the sg has dropped to 1015 with lots of rising ...
