Next time mix your malt in a pot with a couple of litres of water and heat until all disolved.

Not sure if yours will disolve in the fermenter, I doubt if it has ruined the brew though. Just be careful it doesnt block the tap when bottling.

I've found ESB to be the gear. Costs a bit more but it is a 3kg kit instead of a 1.7 kg so you get around 4.5-5% with no added fermentables. I've only tried the bavarian so far but it was the gear. I've got a ESB stout with another week to go before I try it. Difficult wait. ESB also do 15 litre ...

Well moving them all inside into the warmth did it. All bottles are carbed up, probably even more than any of my other beers.

Yep I agree Pale_Ale, its got to be the temp. After moving them all inside i accidently left one out on the kitchen bench for a few days, anyway I checked it and the bottle was really firm. So i cracked it and to my surprise it had carbed up, not heaps but enough. I'll leave the rest in their box ...

I do the same, buy new caps each time. I'm lazy, one less thing to wash and sterilize and at about $3 a pack i figure its not going to blow the budget.

No carbonation?

Hi all,

Just tested a coopers stout after 14 days in the bottle and to my horror it was flat as a tack. What have i done?

I used the kit, brew enhancer 2 and 500g of LDME. I primed with two carbonation drops per bottle.

Bottles have been in the garage where the temp has been a bit low.

I have ...

Ben, chill out. Pale_Ale had a joke with you, I dont think it was personal.

I understand that you may of had a hard time on another post but in this case to quote Pale_Ale it was clearly in good fun and harmless.

Cheers mate.

It was the original packaging. Just to be on the safe side I bought some more today from a place near work. They tell me its a Saflager S23 equivalent called Brew Cellar premium lager yeast. Should do the job.

Cheers

Will the yeast be ok?

I purchased a packet of Saflager s23 today, when I got home i noticed the packet had a small cut in the corner. No yeast escaped but i'm wondering if it will still be ok to use? I have put the packet in an airtight container in the fridge.

Hop flowers

Just wondering if anyone uses hop flowers as opposed to pellets? Do you get a better result with the flowers?

Yeah seems to be working, I have sediment on the bottom and plenty of condensation on the lid, just no bubbling in the airlock. Cross posting is posting the same question in more than one section.

Cheers.

First brew - need help

Hi all, I started my first brew yesterday, Its a Coopers Lager. I have had no activity in my airlock but have had some condensation on the lid. I opened the lid and found a lot of the yeast was sitting on top of the wort so I gave it a stir to mix it in, was that a bad thing to do?The temperature is ...
