Thanks for the replies, fellas.
Sounds like I'm going to have to try to flatten the kegs. Bugger!
My original force carbing procedure was to turn the gas up to 300kpa, tip the keg on its head so the gas inlet was at the bottom and shake it for 50 secs then stand it right way up and turn off the ...

First time kegger headaches!!!! HELP PLEASE!!!

Hi guys, I've been lurking on this forum for quite a while and I don't post much but read a lot.
I have been HBing for years, but have only just got around to building a keg set up. It has 2 kegs, with a gas line splitter inside the fridge. Each keg has it's own out line going to a through the door ...

I only do kit and kilo with a few extra hops and grains, so I don't have ant issues with trub as such, but I have gone off racking. Now I leave the fermented beer in the fermenter for a few weeks after fermentation ceases and it has produced the clearest, best tasting and sediment free beers I have ...

Yep, have to agree the "magic wand" is a time and effort saver. I made up a two headed one to bottle with, using a garden irrigation tee from bunnings. Trouble was having to try and fill two bottles, watch two bottles, drink from another bottle, and try to prevent beer coming out of one while you ...

I wish people would look at getting longnecks from reception centres and the like instead of using PET. It's a direct form of recycling, meaning there is no energy required to melt the glass down to make new bottles as in indirect recycling.

As for cost... I got all mine for free

Should I be concerned about how hot my bottled beer gets?
I read an opinion from one of the head honchos at CUB and they said beer getting hot or cold once it's bottled doesn't affect taste, but direct sunlight is the killer.
Then again, he was talking about commercial beer so I don't know whether ...

So am i right in saying the people here who don't use hydrometers don't care what the alc percentage is in their brews? Or is there another way to work it out?
I don't think it really matters, as long as it tastes good, and can get you pissed, it doesn't really matter if it's 4.0% or 10%.
Don't ...

A brew fridge is a working refrigerator that is able to accomodate your fermenter (or ideally your fermenter and the last brew you bottled)
where the temperature is maintained at your desired fermenting temperature. There are a couple of options for temp control, one of the most popular being the ...

I agree with Shaun's method. Take a half sample first to clear the tap of sediment and chuck out and rinse. Then fill tube 2/3 and take a reading.

Bulk Prime. Just do a search on it, it's been covered in plenty of threads.

If you really don't want to buy an extra fermenter or a blue cube, then it is possible to get a measure that has sugar doses for 330ml, 500ml and 750ml on it.

Yeah, your mate should replace it since he stuffed it.

But as far as making one goes, I made two for racking into/bulk priming from bunnings. The only issue apart from having to drill a couple of holes is having to clean up some of the flash on the inside. The ones I've bought from HBS don't have ...

i'd also imagine that caster sugar is the same as white sugar but the granule sizes are different.
I'd be careful using caster sugar if you're using a brewer's measure or teaspoon, because the grains are smaller, more sugar fits into the same volume. So, using the same measure: the smaller the ...

I have a SuperAutomatica. It works well, every time. I use CUB 750/800ml and a few Lion Nathan longnecks, all twist top. I have also used it on the crown seal bottles you can buy at some HBS's.

here's an answer then.... I don't know why one would bother, since they are clear. Clear bottles will allow your beer to become light struck.
