Hi guys, i just had a homebrew and it had the distinct taste and smell of clove. Now i'm going to presume that this is an infection... as the taste was off and the carbonation was really low.
Now.. the problem is that it seems to be only this bottle as it is like my 6th of the batch, and i had another one straight after to check if it was the whole batch, and it so far is the only one.
Has this happened to people before? or is it a common thing? and what are my chances that the batch is ruined? Does it sound like that bottle was just contaminated and no sanitised like the rest?
Sounds like infection. I would say if the bottles are from the same source and cleaned in the ame way, it is likely that others are infected. However at the same time, it is likely they would have developed the taste at the same time, all things being equal. Therefore I would guess that while there may be a couple of bad ones in there, if you say you tried other bottles and they were ok, the majority will be fine.
