Better Bottle

Post by Chris »

Hi all,

I'm back again.

Just a quick question- has anyone had any experience (or heard anything from anyone) about the 'better bottle' fermenters?

http://www.better-bottle.com/

If so, how have they been for you. I was thinking of giving them a go, but I haven't heard anything about them from anyone.

Thanks

Hmmm - the biggest size is only 22.5 L. Does that allow enough head space? Plus I've often wondered how you would properly clean a carboy...

If you are worried about a vigourous fermentation, you just run a blow-off tube for the first few days.

As for cleaning- PBW and hot water followed by a good shake. Then hit it with starsan- and a good shake.

It's all about the shaking with carboys

Oh, and I usually only brew 15-19L on average these days, so size is ideal.

Maybe get dogger back too, but I just don't think that's going to happen. He seems to be gone.

Dogger Dan is not gone, but he is no longer on this forum.
He's does pop up on Brodies Castle Brewing.

He's a cutie. Chubbie cheeks, so we call him "boofer". Just don't let daughter-in-law hear us call him that. As it is, I'm already on her list of all-time unfavourite people.

And "boofer's" sister gets cuter by the day. She's gorgeous.

Yeah...well... I started young! (And I cheat - 3 kids on my side, 3 kids on HIS side!)

Just shows you how you can sometimes get a completely wrong image when you converse electronically! I had you picked for a grandpa - no insult intended. I think it's the "Doc" title.... and all that wisdom...

Education Anna, not wisdom. A huge difference between the two.

One you get spending years at uni playing pool and drinking beer, the other can only be obtained with age.

One day i hope to be a wise old man, for now i am an overeducated smart arse who only thinks he knows everything

EDIT - and i am one of four kids, my partner is one of three so there are 7 'kids' all over the age of 25 with not a sprog in sight.
