Some philosophy for Newby brewers

Just a note from a newbie brewer i have brewed in the past 15 odd years ago ,the very reason i gave up was ordinary beer the can and kilo of sugar just didnt cut it for me . We all have different tastes and ambitions but i will say this ,until i found this forum and became inspired by reading what can be achieved
with more knowlege and even alittle bit of effort the end result can be your own reward for effort. Not on here to bag any one put as much into it as you desire.I just steeped my first ever batch of grain on my 3rd brew (roasted barley) and just the smell has put the hook into me to go even further down this road.What ever blows ya hair back i suppose .Might have to get the dinner jacket off to the dry cleaners for my first ag

Yes well that’s fair enough..
My idea behind this thread was not that you should never do anything different it was that newbie’s should just get the basics down 1st Then expand ..
Instead of starting off to complicated,, that’s it ..

But each to their own because I have no interest Nor do my mates in weather my beer wins a prize …

Me and my mates drink from pint glasses and want a beer after a crap day at work, most of my friends wouldn’t be able to tell the difference after sucking in bog dust and paint Fumes all day between one or the other ..

This is how the convo of my friends would be ..
Hey Ron I just won 2nd place at the fair for my larger .. mmmm ok .. Anyway did ya see that chick with the big rack at work today.. Blah Blah

I don’t just make rocket fuel I also have my own tricks ( when I have time ) Each to their own ..
That was my opinions and I’m sticking to it..

The individual can make up their own mind whether a person should jump in at the deep end 1st or 2nd ..
Most of my mates save the dinner jacks for court.

But anyone on this forum that wants to come over here and drink my so called pig swill, talk about V8s and how wasted ya got off one glass of my gear.. The door is always open..

If you can operate a can opener you can sit grain in a pot for 30 mins whilst you watch TV. WOW thats the huge step up of steeping grains into a brew

And putting in a kilo of malt takes the same amount of time and effort as does adding a kilo of sugar.

If its the same effort I don't see why people don't do it?

I think some people are afraid of being thought the equivalent of a fine wine drinker in the beer world and losing that bloke tag.

We all learn from every brew ,its not the WOW factor of steeping adding this or that im sure you have come to your experience by trail and error. Like i said 3rd brew for me and yes it is no more effort to do whatever you please in some aspects of brewing.Give a bloke a chance to gain by his experiences .

This forum gives you the fast track to gaining that experience. The internet didn't exist like it is now when most of us were doing the kit and sugar thing. I say if you are here on the forum its not hard to take in the advice of the guys that know their stuff and all of the learning gets fast tracked. Paying your dues in kit and sugar at 30 degrees isn't necessary.

Now if you want to improve your beer all it takes is to read the stickies prior to brew two when researching what to do after you've hurriedly put down brew number one that came with the kit. Everyone here is simply trying to help you out not make beer snobs. Sometimes that help is simply misunderstood.

Interesting . as i am drinking a 3 week old coopers lager 500g ldme 1kg dex.brewed at 30 c and it is quite fine .could prob do with a teabag.
