Can anyone recommend me which Coopers Mix can to use I want to do a Pilsener, like a Pilsener Urquell ?
Aslo what else should I use any Malt, which hops ?
The only reason I want to use Coopers is the homebrew shops are shut and I want to put one down over xmas ?
The Coopers mix's whats the quality like anyway ?
Cheers.
Coopers Brew Mix ?
Re: Coopers Brew Mix ?
Use the supermarket Coopers Euro Lager can + a bunch of Saaz tossed in (might have to get that online) and some LDME, though I'd suggest maybe a touch of sugar replacing LDME to dry it out a little.
You really want to ferment cool with a large amount of healthy lager yeast at about 12-15 degrees. It comes with a reasonable yeast, which is a + on that kit.
Another approach is US05 yeast at about 18-20 degrees. Maybe try the cerveza or lager cans + more more more Saaz at 30+15 mins
Proper Pilsner taste is pretty much Pilsner malt flavour/aroma + Czech Saaz flavour/aroma + clean lager yeast attenuated down to a dry crisp finish. This is no easy beer to make because it requires stellar cleanliness and fine tuned control of your process. I have never bothered because I am enjoying ales too much, but when I think I am up to the task I will do a run of lagers - I have a temp control setup but I want to know my system better first.
Good luck.

Re: Coopers Brew Mix ?
Maybe you could try a toucan with 2 x euro lager kits + both yeasts in a decent sized 2L starter.
Re: Coopers Brew Mix ?
Coopers Euro, with a kilo of LDME and some Saaz late in the boil should make a nice little quaffer. The only problem is you won't be able to drink it for a couple of months at least - and keeping the fermentation temp down will be a bit tricky.
As an alternative, can I suggest a light coloured pale ale? I find that Coopers Australian Pale Ale, 1kg LDME, 15-25g Cascade (you can play around with boil times - I find 15g @ 10 min 10g flameout/dryhopped) and US05 makes a nice ale. It's also drinkable quickly. You probably wouldn't be consuming it until Australia day, but it definitely goes down well. Coopers Real Ale, Dark Ale and Stout are all tasty kits too, but we're getting a bit too far away from Pilsner Urquel now...
To answer your question on the Coopers mixes - I'm guessing you mean the prepackaged sugar mixes that they supply. The Brewing Sugar I would avoid like the plague. It's little better than ordinary white sugar. The Brew Enhancers are a little better. Personally, if you want something a bit lighter than an all-malt brew, I'd say 500g dextrose/500g LDME is a good compromise - and you'll find that Coles will carry both.

Re: Coopers Brew Mix ?
I liked using the Coopers Brew Enhancer 2, with 500gms LDME, a can of Pale Ale and a heap of Cascade. A nice easy one, i recall drinking it after 2-3 weeks in the bottle.
My supermarket sells cans of Saunders Liquid Malt, in the sugar section. I've never been game to use it but have heard it works fine. Might be worth a go if you cant get any malt.
Cheers and have a safe, and merry Christmas.
