I actually fished it out but in hindsight it was probably taking a slight risk doing so.
The beer turned out fine though. (I did use a sanitised spoon)

Well its almost time to bottle I think - will be 2 weeks this Sunday. Will take a sample and see what the gravity is like over the next few days. Hope I can read the hydrometer correctly.
I haven't seen the airlock bubble once yet - I haven't been too concerned as there is plenty of condensation on the inside of the lid and there is a 1cm or so thick sediment on the bottom of the fermenter.
