hi guys just a quick one,
I just put a hieneken clone in the fridge for c/c and I used for the first time a liquid yeast (wyeast actualy) .I reclaimed the yeast and placed it in a sterilised pet bottle ,the only malt I have at home at present is a light wheat malt, is this suitable to use as a yeast starter or should I just keep my reclaimed yeast in the fridge till I get a pack of ldme or is a 100g of the wheat suitable?
P.S. if any one wants the recipe I can post it all grain or extract let me know.

Re: what malt for starter
The light wheat malt is fine...you're making yeast, not beer. Just remember to decant the starter beer, leaving mainly slurry behind before you add it to the target wort.
What Wyeast strain did you use?

Re: what malt for starter
I used Wyeast Danish Lager yeast ,Thanks for the heads up t.l. !
I was more concerned about the purity of the malt against what was what,I thouhgt wheat malt may have husks or some kind of small contaminant thay could effect the yeast or possibly kill it off ,but alls good thanks again.
