Too right! Legacy is a major PITA. Apple has the right idea, every few years they just lop off the old stuff

Well MS has "lopped off" IE4. They dropped support for it 3 or 4 years ago, thats when I stopped testing sites in it.

IIRC They have also dropped support for IE5 and 5.5! Just gotta get rid of 6 and 7 then we only have to develop for good browsers

That'd make me happy, too. I HAAAATE IE in all flavours. Such a slooooow, non-compliant, crash-prone, bug-riddled piece of software. Trying to design a website to take into account all of IE's foibles is a bloody nightmare.

Goatsby, do yourself a favour and give Firefox a whirl.

It should run OK on your system and will be far more secure than IE4, plus give you a better browsing experience (including tabbed browsing).

Here are the minimum requirements from the Mozilla website:

Minimum System Requirements

* 233 Mhz processor
* 64 MB of RAM
* 50 MB of free disk space
* Microsoft Windows 98

You can download FIrefox from http://www.mozilla.com (and while you're at it ditch Outlook Express and try Thunderbird).

It'll change your life!

Click on the "User Control Panel" button at the top left of the forum. Under the "Profile" tab you can click on "Edit avatar". Maximum dimensions; width: 80 pixels, height: 80 pixels, file size: 6kB.
