How many Schooners/Stubbies per day?
Nah, its easy, just pick a day where you don't get home till quite late from some other non drinking activity, and rush straight past the habit of grabbing a stub.Boonie wrote:I have cut back, but AFD's seem to be the go.....man that's going to be hard.![]()
The concept of the AFD is to reduce/remove the habit nature of the drink.
Myself I try to mix the AFD up between Sunday to Thursday. At least one AFD in that lot, and either a Middy, Schooner or Pint or two on the other days. On Friday & Saturday two jugs or so seems to fit nicely with a quiet non school night.
Cheers,
Greg
It's even harder when there is over 400 Longies and 200 Stubbies.pixelboy wrote:Its defiantly hard to keep it under control when there is 70 long necks down in the shed...
I keep it to 1 long neck Mon-Thurs and don't count on Fri,Sat,Sun.
BUT I always include at least 1 AFD in there somewhere
I'm afraid to go "Keg out of the Fridge".....Dangerous territory

A homebrew is like a fart, only the brewer thinks it's great.

I confess the past couple of months have seen me with fewer AFDs than is proper. Normal behaviour is Monday and Tuesday (at least) off.
Normal consumption is a 1.25litre bottle or two 740ml bottles per night.
Socialising changes things a bit. Last night was a good example - went out with some friends and had five or six pints of CPA before dinner (which I made myself, as we bailed early) and a small quantity of HB with/after dinner.
Brew days are usually a bit heavier. Brewing is its own reward, but beer is the icing on the cake...
I had a couple of years off a decade or so ago. Was I healthier, happier, wealthier? I can't remember.

Got to the States, discovered a crapload of quality craft breweries and microbreweries, found a store with over 650 different bottled beers (Whip In, Austin, TX), dicovered beer over here is so much cheaper than Oz (18 bucks a carton for the good stuff, 11 bucks for the weak as piss amber water) got shitfaced on top quality bevvies for 6 months whilst waiting for my green card.
Now, just set up 2 kegerators and after the initial draining of a corny with the missus every two weeks we decided to stick to a max of two 500ml glasses of the commercial beer on tap and one pint of the homebrew per night. (mainly to keeo the homebrew in supply and let it mature a bit)

This is a typical week, not allowing for functions, weddings, funerals, special events, etc, etc (there's always an excuse!)
Monday: AFD
Tuesday: Three or four stubbies
Wednesday: Ditto
Thursday: Ditto
Friday: Six or eight stubbies
Saturday: Ditto
Sunday: Three or four stubbies
And so begins another week.
Mind you, if I've got a thirst up and I'm drinking pots at the pub, there's often no stopping me!
Cheers,
Oliver

AFD? What does that mean? Had to read a fair few posts before I found the answer (thanks Iron-Haggis).
Rarely have one (AFD) these days. But there again, don't hit it like I did as a youngster (started drinking at 21 years of age).
That aside, I have two or three middies a day plus half a bottle of wine.
Keeps me happy & healthy. At my age, hangovers last about three days minimum. Doesn't take long to learn to avoid them.
Every now and then might have a glass or two more and wake up seedy next morning. Pulls me head in for a few weeks. Hangover about once every year or two. Pulls me head in for a fair bit longer!

Weather the storm - you'll kill enough brain cells eventually, you won't get hangovers!pacman wrote:AFD? What does that mean? Had to read a fair few posts before I found the answer (thanks Iron-Haggis).

How many schooners/stubbies per day?
I usually drink 2 to 3 longnecks a night if i am not doing anything, sometimes going 2 or 3 days without a drink in winter.Friday and saturdays, around 6 to 7 longnecks in a session, especially if the cricket or footy is on the idiot box.If i drink,my brother usually wants a beer himself,so i have to keep brewing to keep supplies up.
