Most of my questions have been answered by trawling through the forums 50 or so pages but a couple remain unanswered:
* Yeast - Can I throw in the yeast sachets from 2 different cans of Coopers Wort? I had a left over little yeast pack from a Coopers Pilsener can and wanted to add it to the Coopers draught mix I was making but wasn't sure what the result would be mixing the 2 sachets.
* Sanitiser- How many times can I use the big tub of sanitiser water I have mixed up? Used it once for about 60 bottles but seems a waste to throw it out when I have a need again in a week or so for more. (Its the one from HBS that turns water brown colour). Does it still work after sitting for a week or two covered?
* Does anyone else need to put a couple of bricks on the lid of their Coopers fermenter to get a decent seal? Out of 4 brews in it I have only had one that sealed well without the bricks on top.
Thanks
RG
Sanitiser, Yeast and fermenter sealing questions
According to this thread the Pils comes with Saflager & the Draught comes with a generic ale, so mixing isn't a hot idea. If they were the same type you can throw in two packets no problem.
I've never bothered to reuse sanitiser cause it ain't that dear & I'd rather use clean stuff
I put a new lid seal & airlock grommet in my coopers fermenter when I got it ($10 ebay bargain!) & it seals just fine if you crank it tight without going nuts about it. You could get a new seal from a HBS, use glad wrap with the seal as a huge lacky band, or just ignore the lack of bubbles as the CO2 is just pushing out through the seal anyway so no nasties are getting in.
Hope this helps

It really isn't a problem but because the strains are different, depending upon fermentation temperature one will dominate over the other.

I'm presuming that you are talking about idophor (I've never used it) but so long as the colour is still brownish, it should still be active. I think if the colour fades it becomes less effective.

I don't use coopers pale fermenter personally but if you are having problems with the seal remove the seal, clean around it and also put some beer keg lube on it, which will help.
