Maybe not the worst, but worth a mention in this thread: Perroni Nastro Azzuro. It's the CEO's favorite so it what we get for staffies.

Cheers,

Just tried boags st george - I'd rate VB, Budweiser & Carlton Cold a LOT higher - would have to be close to the worst beer I've ever tasted

VB is an acronym for Very Bad, not vitamin B as some of the slow people that drink the crap sometimes call it. Thats my bit. Although i won't admit i used to drink it when iwas a youngsta. I wont say i moved on to carlton cold either lol  however i have come to my senses as of late.

Speaking of beer tasting like arse, did anyone see the video going around recently of the guy that gets a beer enema, then expels the liquid into a pint glass and has his mate drink it  ?

It was hilarious, but sickening, as you may well imagine. So sickening in fact that one of the blokes present had to go and throw up just from watching it.

Sorry to lower the tone

am curious what foul type of hops(or quality) are in VB? what makes this beer so crap??? i cant seem to make a beer this foul??? do i need to brew at the wrong temp, use sucrose, mouldy hops and the dregs of some poor quality malt with bakers yeast to achieve a clone of this headache producing swill???

I think the issue here is willingness to spend money:

If the makers of VB can save 1c on every liter, they've saved a lot of money, so there's a huge incentive for them to cut corners and aim to churn out the highest volume for the lowest price. Let's fact it, most VB consumers are not to worried about quality.

On the other hand, most homebrewer I know are willing to spend a bit more to make their beer really good.

This is the thing that always suprises me about VB drinkers, The stuff isnt that cheap, i would go as far as to say that its more of an image thing for alot as VB has always been seen as the great aussie yobbo beer

Cheap and extremely nasty. :D

I can remember drinking Brisbane Bitter many many years ago during a beer strike in Vic (remember them). It was terrible.

I voted for Cold, but I was very close to voting for VB. In fact (I am Victorian) everything that comes out of CUB is overated and has the taste complexity of burning hair. :x

Yeah, they cut costs by using sucrose. This is probably the biggest problem.

That's what I heard from the brewer doing the all extract demo at Grain and Grape. Certainly seems to explain why it's so crap eh?

After last weekend, I'll add Boags St George to my list of 'don't touch unless you're staked out over an ant hill covered in honey' beers.

There's also a loyalty factor involved with VB. Bit like your car allegiances.
