What are you drinking now?
Re: What are you drinking now?
My "creamed hony ale" as a mate calls it. Meant to be an APA style but it is just slightly too sweet, hence the honey ale tag. Still pretty good drinking though.

Re: What are you drinking now?
Just spent an extremely long lunch (our fantasy footy comp end of season gig) at the Mail Exchange on Bourke St, where we discovered a fridge full of Little Creatures Single Batch Shephards Delight, their Red IPA. Gawd bless you craft beer....

That's a great part of the world, Guru. Looks like an awesome night, too. Geoff's wife is from Mildura (actually, Red Cliffs) so he gets up that way every now and then.
Weizgei, I walked straight past the Mail Exchange on the way home tonight. I suspect that if I'd dropped in for a drink I wouldn't now be in the comfort of my home having sardines on toast for dinner! (While the chick was out drinking.)
I'm drinking a HB English stout while I wash bottles and fermenters, ready to pitch the yeast in a couple of no-chilled brews tomorrow. It's my first AG stout and a bloody ripper. Very roasty and quite bitter, yet smooth. I reckon next time I might make a US version with the same grain bill but US hops and US-05.
I love beer.

Rye golden ale sitting next to the campfire by a creek in rural NSW listening to the GF on the radio.
Life's tough.
About to tap the keg of black russian. Messy.

Paulaner Octoberfest while watching a seemingly endless lead in to the Grand Final.
2000 light beers from home.

Coopers Green. The old standard. Otherwise as above.
Give a man a beer and he wastes an hour. Teach a man to brew and he wastes a lifetime.
Re: What are you drinking now?
The head on this beer has been like this for 5 minutes, seems to just keep getting bigger. This is my creamed honey ale.

My God! It looks like a Vermicious Knid from Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator!!

Can't say I've ever read that book, but I reckon this looks like a beer spider that I could eat with a spoon.
Re: What are you drinking now?
Just got back from Carwyn Cellars' "Sweet as Bro" kiwi beer tasting. My favourite would have to have been Tuatara's "Double Trouble" IAPA, 9% abv and 167 IBU...and farken fabulous. And $14 for a 640ml bottle, less the 20% discount they were giving the tasting attendees...needless to say I have a few in the fridge!
http://www.tuatarabrewing.co.nz/range/double-trouble/
And they even come with 3d glasses attached to the bottle, which makes the label look...ummm...choice!
Renaissance's (in collaboration with Liberty) "Brown Town" India Brown Ale was also a highlight, best smelling beer of the event, and even though I'm not usually a brown ale fan, this was terrific.

Re: What are you drinking now?
A Boatrocker Ramjet whisky barrel aged imperial stout with my brother. In all seriousness, it's not a patch on Tipsy's oaked imperial stout.
Now onto a Yeasty Boys Rex Attitide, made with 100% peated distilling malt. I warned the brother that he'd love it or hate it. He reckons he doesn't hate it, which is good. Personally, I love it.

Re: What are you drinking now?
Cleaned out my garage this morning, in readiness for marketing our house. Yup, it's a big job, it's a 4 car+ garage.
Repointed the cement in some exterior cracks around the house this afternoon, so it looks as if the house is in really good shape (it actually is, but I want it to look as new).
We're moving down the coast to Newcastle.
Rewarded myself with a longneck of Düsseldorf Alt. Then followed it up, while preparing a roast lamb dinner, with a Belgian Dark Strong Ale I brewed and bottled over 3 years ago. It's now oh so smooth but still complex, and goes down deceptively easy, in spite of its 9% ABV.

Re: What are you drinking now?
First taste of Titanic Ale, a beer I accidentally brewed with 4.4kg Maris Otter instead of 5kg pilsner, carahell and munich.
30-min mash, 30-min boil, 6g first-wort hops and almost 1.3g/litre each of three hops at flameout, whirlpooled for 15 mins before transfer to cube.
I can't give details because it's the recipe for a commercial beer, given to me by the brewer.
It's sensational though. The body is understandably a bit light on, but the bitterness is assertive and the flavour and aroma from the hops is sensational.
I can't wait to make it with the correct grain bill!

Re: What are you drinking now?
I just had a session on matzo's pearlers pale ale and three troupers amber ale, out at a restaurant.
Both nice beers, Matso's the pick of the two for me just for session-ability ! Nice wheat maltiness and good fruity hop flavour.
Now drinking my own simcoe, centennial and nelson sav pale…..I like it better than the purchased brews of the night ! Home brewed beer is usually better IMHO !!!!!

Re: What are you drinking now?
I neglected to say in my previous post that the Titanic Ale was brewed at a pub brewday with CrookedFingers, weizgei and pogierob. The f***-up was entirely mine, however. They had no part in it and brewed a BIAB Timothy Taylor Landlord clone based on DrSmurto's recipe, dumped on to the yeast cake of one of my bitters, brewed with Wyeast 1968 London ESB.
As luck would have it I am now drinking one of those TTL clones. It pours an incredible bronze colour. The nose is lovely and English yeasty. Fruity and delicious. There is not much more to say than it is a magnificent beer. It goes well with curry.

Re: What are you drinking now?
I completely agree on the TTL, it's bloody delightful. I felt bad for forgetting to bring the Fuggles on brew day, but extra EKG in their place doesn't seem to have caused any real harm!
Re: What are you drinking now?
Just smashed a titanic myself and had to resist running to the stash to put another one in the fridge. ( I walked at a brisk pace).
Tried the TTL last night, great beer but I have to say my fav is the titanic by a long shot.

AG Aussie Pale Ale.
My Staple brew, Bittered with Galaxy Flowers & Flavour/Aroma from Amarillo pellets.
Tonight's from my last full batch of bottles.
Still proving that kegging is not all it is cracked up to be.
Done two kegs of the same beer so far & not as good, the bottles give a nice creamy texture that is missing from the kegged equivalent.
Mick.
