I've now tested this side by side with the real deal, and I think I can definitely pick a few differences. The homebrew version is slightly darker in colour and the head retention is better. I also reckon the hops taste fresher and come through more cleanly in my version.
Needless to say, I don't think I'll be buying any more Fat Yak...

Had my bro-i-l and mrs bro-i-l for lunch yesterday. Gave him one of my hefeweizens. His reaction was "you're getting good at this, this is as good as a bought one". My reply , "better". He said it didn't taste like homebrew. I told him that was because it wasn't homebrewed, it was "craftbrewed", exactly the same as the boutique brewers". GeeWhiz, after spending 6 hours or so over a brew, I'd want it to taste at least as good as a bought one.
