Re: First All Extract

Had a taste of this today, after just 2 weeks, and bloody nice - good head and carbonation and nice bitterness. Will now age so it realises its potential.

Recipe for extract JS Amber Ale

Hi all,

I'm looking to do my second all extract, and I would like to put down a James Squire Amber Ale clone. I've had look within this forum and I can only find kits + bits. I also had a look at the AHB recipe database, but I must be doing something wrong as I could not locate it. I've got the ...

Re: First All Extract

Hi Carlos, congrats on taking the step that will inevitably cause you much greif in the future, good beer unfortunately takes work!

Re: First All Extract

Ahh you will find it easy, just like cooking and following a recipe.

Are you doing a full boil or late extract addition? Are the hop amounts right for the boil volume and SG of your boil for the best hop utilisation?

Sorry, yes this is late extract addition. I reviewed the "parital boil/extract ...

Re: First All Extract

That looks interesting.
Looks like an Extra Special Bitter recipe, but with an American yeast.
Should keep it clean and allow the hops to shine.

The wheat malt will need to be mashed, if it just standard wheat malt.

Yes, its one of their Bitter recipes. The brew shop guy provided me with all ...

First All Extract

Hi all,

I'm about to put down my first all extract on the weekend, thanks to a recipe from the good folk at Grain and Grape. Before this I'd only done K&K since getting a Coopers' kit for Xmas last year.

Anyway here's what I'm putting down:

3.5 kg LDME
200 g Crystal Malt, 80 g Wheat Malt, 20 g ...

kit yeast.

First time post, so be gentle! :D
