Hi guys,
I tasted this latest release from James Squire last night at my local First Choice. There is a thread about this in the 'Beer You Buy' section of this forum. I am interested in trying to do something similar to this beer using all extract.
Has anyone tried it? Is anyone able to help me ...

Re: James Squire Pepperberry Winter Ale
First Choice near me (Keperra) had this available for tasting last night when I popped in for a bottle of wine. I thought it was an interesting beer but agree with Lachy's comments. The pepperberry could've been accented more and would probably made for a much more interesting brew.

Re: 15 minute Nelson Sauvin lager
I racked mine and added the final lot of hops this week. It's now in the coolroom at work at 2c lagering for about 6 weeks if I can hold out.
From the sample I took for an SG reading (prior to final hop addition) I am VERY excited about this beer. Loads of passionfruit flavours coming through. I ...

Re: 50 year Ale Project
That looks like a great idea!! Hmm - maybe something to think about for myself too!
I've already done a beer I intend to keep for 2 years (to drink on my son's 5th birthday) so this might be the next step...

Re: The Brewhouse - Brisbane CBD
Hi guys,
I just read about the 'Brewology 101' in today's Courier Mail. It says that they are holding the brewology event next tuesday but, having just called to book in for next week, it is actually on tonight.
it costs $20 and kicks off at 5pm. Looks like it could be a pretty good event.
Shame ...

I took it to mean dollars/cents per gram - just not very clearly written.
I am fairly new to BeerSmith myself so I could very well have gotten the wrong end of the stick....

Re: Coriander, Lime and Honey Lager
Hi guys,
I had a crack at brewing this recipe and have just racked it (after 2 weeks fermentation) for lagering.
I followed the recipe at the beginning of this topic with the following variations:
65g or coriander seeds instead of 100g (I thought I had about 85g but when I weighed it there was ...

Re: Chimay blue recipe...
Hi guys,
I've been reading through my Brewing Crafts book and have decided I want to have a go at the Chimay recipe at the top of this post.
The recipe calls for 2.3kg of dry malt extract.
I just wanted to find out whether there would be any advantage in using some liquid malt extract in ...

Re: Using Beersmith to calculate hops am i doing it right?
Thanks for the quick replies guys!
I can do it without the dex if you think that would be better?
I had intended to do a 23 litre brew.
American Pale Ale is all good with me.
I do like them hoppy!
warra48 - Where did you calculate total IBUs of 58? I thought it was a total of 37.1?
Thanks ...

Using Beersmith to calculate hops am i doing it right?
Hi guys
I've recently downloaded and bought Beersmith and am slowly getting the hang of using it. I just wanted to check whether I'm doing the right thing.
The recipe I've worked out is:
Black Rock IPA kit
600g dex
600g LDME
250g maltodex
plus hops
I used the equation in in the Partial Boil ...

a) help me out with hop schedule etc for this or - preferably
b) tell me how to work it out myself using beersmith. I just bought beersmith and am working my ...

Re: Coriander, Lime and Honey Lager
Thanks for that. My local homebrew shop told me that I should add 2 or 3 carb drops to the settling cube just before racking to do just that.
Will that do the trick?

That sounds like a great idea! I'll get on to that as soon as I bottle the Kilkenny clone I've got going.

Re: Coriander, Lime and Honey Lager
Thanks guys.
RWH - if you were racking to avoid autolysis then would it be necessary to rack after one week? I thought, generally, beers were ok on the yeast cake for up to about 3 weeks before needing to be racked?

Re: Birthday beer?
Hmm - I'm thinking a Leffe Blonde type would be a good idea.
I was given this as a recipe to try:
1x Morgans Golden Saaz Pilsner kit (1.7kg)
1.5kg Light Dry Malt Extract
0.5kg Dextrose
20grams Tettnang hop pellets (steeped for 10mins)
Whitelabs Belgian Ale (WLP550) starter (I already have some of ...
