Re: Fat Yak

I tried it on tap at the Lucky Coq in Prahran last week and was pretty impressed.

Hopefuly they will distribute it more widely in the near future - I'd happily drink it again.

Re: Anyone used brew wizard can kits?

I made them up to approx 20 litres and like you, used malts rather than dextrose or other brewing sugars.

Would have to check my notes, but I think I used a better quality yeast - a Safale from memory for the PA... not sure on the pils.

Like most kits I'm sure they'd be improved by steeping some ...

Re: Anyone used brew wizard can kits?

I just noticed the add in brewers magazine and they seem to be the house kit of brewerschoice in Healsville. http://www.brewerschoice.net.au/html/brew%20kits.htm The java pop up doesn't work to give a description of the kits.

They seem pretty well priced and I know it sounds sucky but I love the ...

Thanks Guys, some good ideas there.....and some conflicting ones!!

Undercover, the ebay idea is a great one, I do some browsing on there from time to time. Have you ever bought anything this way?

The Coopers kit comes with 30 PET bottles, so why not give it a whirl?

Plastic for the lagers, glass ...

Undercover1,

Just wondering why you don't rate the heating belts?

I'll be brewing under the house at home with temps in the low teens....unless I want to brew only lagers, I'll need something to warm things up a tad.

What to buy?

How's it going guys?

I'm just about to get back into the Homebrewing scene after a long hiatus and aside from the standard Coopers brewkit which I bought the other day (for $55 brand new - bargain, but that's another story), I don't have any other equipment - I already have quite a few longnecks ...

Balls,

Aside from Bintang, you can get Bali Hai, which IMHO is a vastly inferior local drop compared to Bintang.
The usual imported beers such as Heineken, Carlsberg, Guinness, are readily available.

Stick with the Bintang, it's very cheap and very good.

Seems we aren't the only ones dissatisfied with the Socceroos' Confed Cup efforts, Farina and Soccer Aust have agreed to go their seperate ways....let's hope they can find a coach with good international credentials - and fast.

Our defence has been letting the side down for years now, admittedly they were playing two of the strongest sides in world soccer/football, but to let in 4 goals in successive matches isn't good enough. They can't hope to qualify for the World Cup unless Farina rectifies this situation asap ...

Dogger, Oliver & Geoff have reviewed two of the Buffalo beers on their website and given them rave reports.
I suppose this proves you don't have to be able to spell to produce a decent bear...sorry beer. :)

No Dogger, haven't tried the beer, but I assume they must be doing something right if they're still brewing after more than a century...just reflects poorly on their business if they can't even spell correctly on their website. :)

Bizarre thing about the beer festival - no Doryman's Dark Ale to be found.

Mind you, squeezing another beer in may have been the final straw.....
