I am also always thinking of new ways to cut the bottling time down. I use longies but still find it a laborious task. I am experiementing with 2 ways to cut down time:
1. Employing my 5 year old son - He fills the bottles then I cap them and crate them. He fills one in about the same time it takes ...

Airlock smell is unusually fruity, no off smells. Its a Coopers Pilsener mix, with a HBS Megabooster Sugar/Light malt mix, plus 200g of dextrose added, and using the american ale 56 yeast also from HBS. Was pitched at about 24 degrees. New layer of froth
Hi,
My latest brew was bubbling along as usual, went through the froth on the top stage then cleared as usual, all the time the airlock was bubbling.
Then overnight another layer of froth had formed on the top of the brew. Its still kind of bubbling but I haven't experienced the second froth stage ...

I have just put my first tooheys dark ale brew down after several (increasingly successful) amber brews. On advice of homebrew shop I went with their stout booster mix of sugars/dark malt/light malt, rather than another one they had for dark ales which was a mixture of sugars and light malt only.
