I made one of these recently to use as my secondary. i put a grommet and airlock in the lid and a tap in the bottom and it worked fine. i do agree that the tap threads are a bit dodgy tho. i find with mine i cannot do it up too tight, but have had no trouble with leaks

I've got a mate who only ever drinks coopers pale. i gave him one of my hb pales i brewed just using the coopers kit and reccomended brew enhancer (this was only my 2nd brew) and he actually preferred it to the real thing - a fair compliment coming from a non homebrewer

The butterfly cappers are great on crown seals but I had trouble with it catching the lip of the twist tops and snapping the neck off the bottle. Some worked ok but about 3 out of 10 broke before i gave it away

Twist Tops

I have been using long neck twist tops when bottling my brews as I have enough for around 3 brews (currently only have around 15 crown seal longy's). I have been using a handcapper with the bottles placed on a thick cork base to absorb the shock. I have had no problems with any crown seal bottles ...

thanks for the help guys.
FG has been steady at 1.015 for 2.5 days now. Temp is kept at constant 25 degrees C using submersed heater that i've added to my fermenter. The brew is 20L. When calculating alcohol percentages based on OG and FG readings, does the size of the brew matter?
Cheers

More alcohol % required

I've just started a Czech Pilsner using Brewcraft Czech Pilsner extract, saaz hops and a 1kg malt mix from the local homebrew shop. Problem is that the OG was 1036 and FG looks to be settling down to about 1015, leaving me with something around the 3% alc/vol range. In hindsight i should have added ...
