Boil Glucose ?

Boil Glucose ?

Hi guys I've just laid down a Leffe brew and I was reading from an old recipe it said start by boiling 2 ltrs of water and add the Glucose for the boil and the hops, I was just wondering what boiling the Glucose does is this nescessary ?

There's two reasons to add fermentables to your boil;

1) Kill any bugs that may be living in them

2) You get a better hop utilisation if your boil gravity is around the 1.040 mark then if you just boil them directly in water.
