Forgot to add enough sugar to secondary fermentation

Post by hotdiggity »

I didn't add enough sugar to the secondary fermentation of a dark ale, using a single carbonation pellet instead of two for the 750ml bottles. It's been 2 weeks since bottling. Is the batch salvageable? Not much carbonation in the bottle I tried and not very drinkable.

Your brew should be fine - it will carbonate but just take a bit longer to do it. Give it another 3 weeks and see how you go. 2 weeks and the beer's still "green" / immature. I don't touch my bottled beers for at least 4 weeks after capping...

Cheers,
