Fermenting Help

Post by stevezo »

I've just checked my very first brew that's currently fermenting and it looks like the layer of yeast
has gone from the top to the bottom of the fermenter.

Is this normal?

If the beer has finished fermenting the yeast will flocculate (fall to the bottom).

If you pitched a lager yeast the yeast will go straight to the bottom and mostly stay there (sometimes CO2 bubbles bring bits of yeast to the surface).
Prost and happy brewing!

Thanks, so it's nothing to really worry about.
It's only been fermenting for about 3 days so far, and it's a Coopers Pale Ale Style Pack from Brewcraft.

If it includes a Coopers yeast, then that would be quite normal. It's the most voracious yeast I've ever seen.

Agreed, 3 days is quite normal for Coopers yeast.
