porters using a pre made malt

HI guys I'm pretty new at this so I will try to explain things to you all.
I'm a big fan of the porter style beer ! so are my family and friends (son mainly) so I've been a regular visitor to brewmaster in Melb I think the have a great range of goods and have beenvery helpful.Recently I noticed on there web site they have produced a chocalote porter has anyone produced one and whats it like? I dont think I have the skills to produce a porter from scratch,the question is has anyone produced a porter using any comercial malts using chocy coffee ect and what would be the proces?

G'day Bangers,
Have a search around this forum for porters...Although I brew all grain brews, I'd suggest that a very good porter can be made using a kit and some well selected extracts and speciality grains. I've had one glass too many out of my keg of Dortmunder to find the relevant links, but don't think you can't make a decent honey porter without having to turn into an all grain acolyte!

Have a search for "honey porter" and you'll get some excellent advice.

Do a search for my Choc honey porter recipe, it's an absolute ripper.

You can make some great porters from kit and kilo brews, especially the Cascade Choc Mahogany Porter.

This was completely pre-made, just added water and yeast. Dunno if "Brewmaster" have similar, but worth a crack............No need to start from scratch with this one

All the advice you've given me has beeen great and sent me off on another adventure ! Iwas checking out brewcraft's web site the other day and they have released a porter kit just may give that a go! will keep you all posted cheers.

Try doing this one, I found it to be very delish

1 Beermakers Old
1kg LDME
1kg Morgans Choc Liquid Malt
make to 21 or 22 litres

Very easy and one of my fav one's to do for when the cold weather hits.
I haven't put any hops in this brew but my next one wil have some willamette, I reckon bout 20g
