glass or plastic fermentor?
glass or plastic fermentor?
thinking of buying a second fermentor so i can start racking, should io buy a glass or plastic fermentor? how do you clean inside the glass ones?

Glass
for the following reasons
1. Plastic is permiable so it will let air into your brew. This is so not good.
2. Plastic is nubbly (like the earth) so you can't clean it microscopicly and that means nasty bacteria will hang around even though you have sanitized. Again not a really good thing
3. Plastic scratches easily which leads to #2
4. Plastic stains
So, get a better grip on things and don't be chucking your secondarys around the house especially with 5 gallons of brew in it.
I have had one (my first) for over 15 years and it is still in use. Survived over 5 moves etc. etc.
And I clean them with bleach. Remember to clean them after you drain them and don't let them sit dirty until you are ready for the next batch.
