Yeast nutrient

Post by mark68 »

Having just finished racking off my latest brew,i was very happy with the way this one attenuated.I added 5 grams of a yeast nutrient to the brew at start and pitched my yeast and then sat back and waited. It brewed solidly for 5 days and brought my gravity down 40 points in the process, which is something i had been having a lot of trouble with prior to this brew, most stopping bubbling after 3 days! This stuff contained vitamin b,DAPand some kind of enzyme( not dry ),and seems to have worked excellent. :)

You can't argue with results. Good to hear about successful brews.

Hey mark what is the name of the yeast nutrient you used - 40 point drop ? Sound good! I talked this guy who uses a liquid yeast nutrient and he says he gets 2 percent more alcohol from a batch, I forget the name but he shops at esb brewing in sydney. Anyway thanks in advance - btw what was your OG?

Yeast nutrient

Hopsalot,
my og was 1052 for a coopers premium draught with LME 1.5 kg and 250 grams of wheat malt.I used a safale us 56 yeast. The nutrient i used comes from brewcraft here in SA and contains DAP,magnesium sulphate, folic acid, niacin, calcium pantothenate ,thiamine hydrochloride and an unknown enzyme( don't think it was dry though). 5-7 grams seems to be the right amount to use,so it lasts a long time.( 100 gram packs)
