Dry hop time frame

Post by Finnagann »

Is there an optimal length of time to leave the hops in? Are there Plus/minus if too long/short? I don't seem to be able to find any clear direction on this one.

There are no hard and fast rules!

Some brewers are of the view that leaving the dry hops too long may impart some grassy character to your beer.
Some limit it to about 1 gr of hops per litre of brew.

Others go nuts and ignore those rules (?) and make good beer.

My last APA I dry hopped 25 gr Chinook in 23 litres, and it was in there for 2½ weeks while I cold conditioned the beer. It is one of the best APAs I've made!
