Lag Time

Post by Zuma »

24 hrs to get my brew fired up.

Belgian Wheat with wyeast liquid malt re cultured from previous brew.

Guess I should have woken it before pitching it straight from fridge?

What are the side affects of such lengthy start ups?

Wild Yeasts?

I've seen people report waits as long that for the pack itself to puff up, let alone the brew to take off. I wouldn't worry.

But if you are worried you may want to research making starters.

Good luck with it!

24h is fine, I've had pilsners take nearly 72h to fire up and thats using a fresh starter (wyeast 2000 budvar - lazy bugger that it is).

How long was the yeast from the previous batch sitting in the fridge? Days? Weeks?

Did you just take it out a pitch it cold or let it warm up to the same temp as your wort?

Pitched cold.

About 3 weeks old.

Absolutely hammering now though!
