Frozen

Post by Rob C »

Just went to check my fermenting fridge and 2 fermenters are frozen. These were conditioning so the ferment was complete. if i defrost then keg and carb will these still be fine?

Cheers

Wow!!!
I would treat this as an experiment. Could be an entirely new beer flavour. As fermentation has ceased I would feel that no damage has been done. I wonder what will happen as the temp is raised. Might fermentation start again?
I've really got no idea but if it was me I'd go through the process just to see what happens.
Cheers

Have a read of this section in Palmer's "How to Brew", if you are concerned about frozen beer.

I've done that a few times.

Actually seems to improve the clarity somewhat as the yeast clumps together better.

Not something i set out to do but the free fridge i scored is a hell of a lot better and cooling that i thought! -4C. At least i know i can make an eisbock should the urge arise.....

Rob - beer will be fine. Just hope its not the best beer you have ever made or you will have to freeze all your beers from now on ......

No fair.

you could have told me what they were before i made my blanket statement....

let me know how they turn out, my TTL keg is about to blow and its the wrong time of the year for me to brew Rogers. Its my summer low abv beer - Dark Mild comes out to play at this time of the year.
