ok, a month and a half back i put down a custom lager... was a Morgans Blue Mountain with a Lager yeast and hallertau hop pellets... i opened a bottle on the 2nd week as i do with all my beers to add some notes to my spreadsheet (taste test every 2 weeks its bottled/lagered)... it was my 2nd attempt at bulk priming (around 120grms dex was added to a 20litre batch) and by the look of it ive done something wrong.
It tastes and smells like it would have been my best to date (only done 6 and this was number 5), i say would have been because it is flat as anything... some beading happening in there but no where near enough.
Is there anyway of rescueing it? I dont wanna tip it cause even at only 2 weeks it tastes good... better then my first 2 which have been bottled for 2 months, but it could be so much better if it was carbed.
Would leaving it for a 4-6 months add some carbonation? or would the flavours then dissapear by then? Im just hoping my next one which i also bulk primed
Rescue a low carbonation brew??
Re: Rescue a low carbonation brew??
+1 on this one.
I bottled three batches weeks ago. Two batches and 6 bottles of batch three came out perfect. (They were sitting on a table.)
The flat bottles were under the table. They are PET bottles and I've tried rotating daily for the last four days, even tempted to shake the hell out of them, but still flat.
Inark, I hope you don't mind me jumping onto your thread but I figured it would be silly to start a new thread on much the same subject. Thanks, mate.

Re: Rescue a low carbonation brew??
120g of dex in 20L is low.
Back during kit days i used 180g per 23L as a standard which equates to 156g in 20L.
The other issue is that 2 weeks can produce carbed up beer, sometimes it takes longer.
My first preference would be to wait another 2 weeks.
If you cant then uncap each one and add another 1g of sugar per 750mL bottle.

all good svyturys
ive been using this table as a guide...
http://oz.craftbrewer.org/Library/Metho ... uide.shtml
which means this should have been about the same as priming per bottle?
Hopefully my last batch of 40litres doesnt stuff up cause i used 240g for that.

Re: Rescue a low carbonation brew??
could the issue have been i actually boiled it too much or because of the way i added it? i added it to about 200mls of water and boiled it on a stove top until it went clear and then simply added it to brew rather then adding it to the fermenter before running the beer from the 1st fermenter to the 2nd which should obviously mix it properly.
would it be safe to open them all and add a little dex to each bottle? it cant harm it can it? EDIT: more then it already is
