Hey guys.
Using an IPA kit base and tweaking it what successful brews have you had and what brand kit did you use??
I really want to do this type of beer next and looking for tips and advice. Especially how to increase the alcohol % like the real thing and safely.
Both black rock and coopers do cans and I didn't find much out on what else I should add to it.
Recommend an IPA kit recipie?
Re: Recommend an IPA kit recipie?
IPA's are typically stronger in alcohol and hops than a "regular" pale ale. They're also often a bit darker. To get more alcohol, all you need to do is add more malt. I'd give the following a go as a rough starting point:
Coopers Real Ale
1kg LDME
1kg DDME
25g Goldings @ 15 min
25g Goldings @ 5min
S-04 yeast

Dry hopping is damn near law in an IPA.
So in addition to what Lachy has suggested, add another 20g to dry hop with.

Yep, good call. In fact... I've got another Coopers Real Ale lurking here... I guess I just figured out what my next brew will be!

Substiute in willamette. It's a winner!
And a bit of brown sugar works a treat too.
