Storing open hops.

Post by Pom »

Hi all
Once a vaccume sealed bag of hops is opened will putting the unused hops in a zip lock bag and putting back in the fridge be sufficant to keep them fresh. If so for how long? Also long term storage of unopen hops. Can you freeze them or are they best left at fridge temps?
cheers Rob :?

Keep them in the ziplock bag, expelling as much air as you can, then store in the freezer.

Yep. Ziplock and freezer. A bit of CO2 never hurts either.

I leave them in the bag they come in and seal the bag back up by folding the air out and getting a hot iron ,hold the iron on the bag for 2-3 sec.use a cutting board so you don't burn the bench :D
PS don't let the wife catch you!

This all so works well for the little foil seed bags.
