wy 3522,La Chouffe bottle culture

Post by hoohaaman »

Hi Guys, anyone experienced with this strain?

Have re cultured from La Chouffe bottle,it is firing but it is giving off a smell I have never smelt before.
I'm really familiar with Belgian yeasts and their different aromas, but am not familiar with 3522.

Any insight would be great

Cheers hoohaa

I knew someone would ask :( .I'm terrible at describing such an abstract thing

Not an off smell, not infected, maybe a seaweed type smell.

Definitely a grassy thing going on

No not vegemite,It's a clean smell maybe even coriander like, which would be in character with this yeast.Have fired it up on the warm side so .....

I might just slant it anyway :D

Cheers

the yeast is known for giving off spicy notes.. apparently banana notes too if it's fermented warm.

Well I slanted this yeast, then decided I'd do a 10lt batch to proof it's merits.

Pitched a .5lt starter and it took off quick, excellent aroma :D .Definitely smells true to style now.
