How long can you keep opened hops?

I bought 100gms of PoR pellets and have so far only used 25gms. I plan on using another 25gms but am then going travelling for 6-8 months. I have sealed the bag pretty well, how long can I keep the hops in the fridge before they lose their goodness?

I keep mine in the freezer... i havent seen any ill effects yet...

I throw mine in the freezer also and haven't had any problems.

I got hops from ross@craftbrewer and he actually sells these heavy duty ziplock pouches for $0.80 each or $0.50 each if you buy 10. They come with labels to write all the hop info on and stick onto pouch. They are far superior than the general Glad Zip Lock Pouches from the supermarket. Yeah those pouches are great. I keep mine in the freezer, as soon as they are opened they go into the barrier bags and back into the freezer.

+1 for the barrier pouch,have kept them in the freezer for 12 months with no noticable alpha acid loss .

There was loss,obviously, but I couldn't taste the difference.
