Newport hops

Has anyone used this hop, if so what do you think of it as a bittering hop I noticed Craftbrewer has them on special so I thought I'd get your opinion before I get some.

I grabbed 3 packs a few months back when i too noticed the special.

TL did point out is has quite a high co-humulone level so i try to FWH them to try and soften the bitterness. Not noticed any harshness but then i have used Chinook for bittering on a regular basis which is a big no-no in some peoples books.

Yet to use them for flavour or aroma so would be interested to hear from anyone who has....

Cool, I might have to get a pack to try. I use Chinook in most of my Porter recipies for bittering, and I have just had a batch ready which I used 10g or so on a 20 min boil along with the Chinook bittering at 60 mins, can't remember what I dry hopped with (I'm at work so can't check my notes) but it turned out quite nice, flavour was a little overpowering so it's more of a one here and there sorta beer. Actually come to think of it it's kinda stoutish
