K-97

Post by Old Gil »

G'day folks,

Two days ago I put down the Hoegaarden clone in the recipies section, followed every step to the T except I used K-97 dry yeast. Still have no sign of fermentation, no krausen, brew sitting at 20 deg, pitched yeast at 23. I've checked for leaks on fermenter and all is good.

What the hell is goin' on :?: As I've never used a wheat yeast can anyone tell me if these types of yeasts take longer to kick of, or do I have a mystery on my hands.

Got all the ingredients from G & G

Cheers

tried this yeast with a Koelsch a little while ago...same thing (no action) tried a second pkt (no action with that one either)
finally threw in a pkt of s04 and that got her going ......no sign of fruit in the taste test, so the K97 may have been working after all....have seen posts on this same thing in america
are cornflakes flaked corn?

If it hasn't got goin' by the time I get home from work I think I'll just throw in the kit yeast, the only other yeast I've got ATM is Muntons Gold but I was saving that for something else

Pitched kit yeast last night and we have fermentation, going very nicely at 20 deg, fingers crossed that it still turns out in the ball park of a Hoe
