Are there new bands that are actually calling their music "rock'n'roll"?
I don't know if the bands themselves call it rock'n'roll but didn't Madona get into the rock'n'roll hall of fame  , that's the ludicrous shit I'm talkin about, not that Madona is new but she still isn't rock. Rock needs a few things,

1. A decent rock singer that can actually write songs in verses
2. A guitar solo 8) ((not just one played within 3 frets)unless you're AC/DC and can do it bloody well)
3. songs that go for more than 2 minutes
4. chicks at their concerts that take their tops off :P
5. the band must have cumulatively, had drug issues, alcohol issues, violence issues, or just dick head issues, but
gotten over it.
6. they need a name like, Pantera, Skid Row, Van Halen, G'N'R, Mr Big, Poison, White Lion, Whitsnake. You get the
drift

I completely agree, and would add, the lead singer needs to be uglier than a monkeys armpit

And, they need to play their own instruments, and have lugged their own gear. That means no 'pop idol' can be included.

Or most modern 'rock' acts- I'm looking at you nickleback!

Does it count that I saw Carlos Santana in his concert at Tempus Two in the Hunter Valley about 3 weeks ago?
Definitely the loudest concert I've ever been to in my life.

I have a sunburst Strat (US Made) in the downstairs cupboard that occasionally gets dusted off after a few beers!
I hook it up to the valve amplifier, run amok and wonder why my fingers hurt so much the next morning!!

Favourite bands:
(Early) Midnight Oil,
Matt Finish,
Foo Fighters.

Nice one Kev.....

Went to KISS on Thursday night.....same set from the last concert which was a little disappointing  , but still a great show :D .

It was my brother-in-laws first KISS concert and he loved it. One thing that blew him away was the demographic of the audience....ranging from 4 year olds (Dad's influence  ) to 14-15 year olds who told me that they started to listen to KISS after learning the guitar to the 50 year olds remembering the good ol' days.....I'm in the middle there somewhere.

If they come again, I'm going again. Concert no 6  , but will have to send emails and get on their KISS blogs to ask for a new set.

Cheers

Boonie

Pumpkin ale?!! Sounds great! Papazian has a recipe I've been really wanting to try.

I made a stout and bitter- both dump-and-stir jobs. Building up supplies for a party in a few weeks.

Only other person I know of who has done this is KEG. I will have to see what Papazian had to say on the subject. I have been doing an extract version of this for years and it is always a crowd pleaser, from little old ladies to hardened whiskey drinkers everyone seems to love this brew!
