I had the same thing happen a couple of weeks ago with a Coopers Dark Ale. Temp got down to 14 - 16 and fermentation stopped, hydrometer reading was 1020 after about 5 days. I loosely placed a towel around the fermenter and put in a sunny spot for a couple of hours and let it warm up to around 22. Later in the day fermentation started up again and continued for another day. Tasted the beer last night and wasn't too bad, all things considered. All is not lost.
From my experience, 18 Deg C is the best temp to brew it. Any lower and fermentation gets stucked. If it happens, you'll need to bring it back up to 18 Deg C and rouse the yeast by swirling the fermenter. This was what I did for my last brew, and it came out fine.
Yeah it must have stopped hydromerter reading was 1025 temp was at
14 even with a blanket around it got out the brewpad and got the temp back up to 18-20
