3rd brew - hightail clone

Post by ptygmit »

Hi all,

For my 3rd brew, im thinking about trying the hightail clone i found on this site at http://www.homebrewandbeer.com/forum/vi ... hp?p=37156.

I just have one quick question.... I bought 1kg of Coopers light dried malt from the local coles, and i want to check it's the same as the light dried malt extract in this recipe? On the bag it says 500g gives 0.9% alc by vol... i dont want to be making a 1.8% beer :) Is this the right stuff?

Cheers

Yes it is the same and you are adding a further 1.8% to what the kit makes, that is not the total ABV.
Prost and happy brewing!

Pete,

This one comes out really nicely. I used Goldings instead of Cascade last time and I think it suits it a bit better.

Thanks for the help guys. I've got the Goldings on order. Will be my first attempt using ingredients other than the brew kit... really looking forward to tasting :)

i made this and it was superb - really close to the hightail, albeit a little smokier. delicious!
