Storing Liquid Malt
getting back on to the subject, I have seen those plastic lids that you can get to put on unfinished dog food cans before putting them back in the fridge. I reckon they'd be a goer for home brew tins as they are about the same size...
I must admit that i've never had any left over liquid malt before, I try to use the whole can(s) in the brew. If there is additional malt to be added to increase the alcohol concentration, then i usually go the dry malt extract.
The problem i have is trying to get the dry malt packet to become airtight without blowing a heap of malt out the openeing. or sucking it into the hand held vacuum sealer that i have. thats a bastard

I freely admit that I was Very Very Drunk....

Kev how about a 20 kg. bag for $106?Kevnlis wrote:Yeah thats the only drawback for usryan wrote:huh? what about that? huh? huh?
This is part of the reason I switched to AG, the absolute cheapest I could buy any extract was to buy prehopped generic or Tooheys kits for $9 each, and there are only so many beers you can make from them, before you decide you need to widen your horizons.
Honestly if I could source dry extract for $6 per kilo I would give up on AG
I knew I never should have left SAPale_Ale wrote:If I was close to a G&G I would pick up a sack of dry malt but my local only sells liquid in bulk, and at $3.17/kg it's worth storing it somewhere

I'm sure my wife would have loved 20kg's LDM in the back of the car.
Would have been a tight squeeze for the kids though

A homebrew is like a fart, only the brewer thinks it's great.

I'm with Warra on this one, you just don't seem too be putting 100% into this hobby.warra48 wrote:You could always put the family on the bus. Where are your priorities?Boonie wrote: I'm sure my wife would have loved 20kg's LDM in the back of the car.

Forget that! He`s just increased it to $9kg. Yes, a 50% increase! The reason? "Everything`s gone up." Maybe, but not by 50%. He won`t see me againryan wrote:Sanitise an airtight plastic container, dry it and put your liquid malt in and add a thin film of vodka on top. I use the pantry to store it {cool and dry}Pale_Ale wrote:Hey, how do you guys store your liquid malt in the event of not using the whole container or buying bulk? At the moment I just make sure I use it all, but if there's a no fuss way to store it I will.
{lite dry malt $6 kg. here, best price I`ve heard of}
