1. COOPERS
This is about a perfect organisation, it looks after all its stakeholders, yes they sell beer in supermarkets but they have not forgotten the local home brew shop with their exclusive Heritage range kits,
They devolop their range, when I got my Coopers homebrew setup in Nov 04 they had a offer of $5 off your next cooper can kit purchase, they sent me about 3 or 4 of those which is excellent marketing as i used the offer to buy kits I wouldnt normally consider such as Bavarian and Canadian Blonde(a beer Cooper made for our Canadian friends which is quite nice)
Their normal beers are excellent too additive free and presevative free.
2. AUSTRALIA POST
Generally always delivers and when in consideration with other postal services it is cheaper and does a excellent job catering for a sparsely populted nation. put the postal services of the US UK NZ and Europe to shame.
3. THE LOCAL HOMEBREW SHOP
One of the rare businesses you can go into and get honest advice. When the supermarkets in Horsham couldnt obtain bottlecaps a SOS was sent to Ballarat Home Brewing which averted a major crises in the Wimmera home brewing fraternity. He is saving a empty can of Ballarat Bitter for my beer can collection for my next visit.
4. THE ABC
Generally rely on this in the shed for footy, news current events on the radio good telly too. it gives everyone a fair go even a wino and derro like myself here
http://www.abc.net.au/sa/stories/s866677.htm
had i been on commercial radio ringing talkback about homebrewing it would be more like "impossible the peasents are having fun in the middle of the day this hombrew should be regressivly taxed.
5. OFF THE HIP
Record shop in Melbourne which accepts cash wrapped between beer coasters in the post for payment.
6. EBAY
Even though its a monopoly I use it a lot over 250 times a lot of goods I cant obtain here and probably never could until ebay.
7. MY LOCAL MILKBAR
Usaully get the papers , footy tipping contest and get credit for fags unheard of in metropolitan areas< i used to be able to get credit at local pub but I stopped that as it was becoming a form of debt bondage LOL.
8. THE SALVOS
Generally do a bit of shopping in the Salvo stores, sometimes you can get good things and all the money you spend goes to good causes. Always chuck in a few bucks for the red sheild appeal.
9. AUSWAYS PUBLISHING
Excellent cartographers with Melways, Sydways and Brisways, a Australian firm still printing in Australia, One day I hope to see every Australian City and town covered by this format, ( handy to find pubs too)
10. THE INTERNET
Imagine the world with out it. Everyone can find a happy place
such as this forum.
*nb not my ISP though i rang them up and was put on hold and had to listen to Tears For Fears, Madonna and that f***ing lame Walk the Dinosaur song
Anyway whats everyone elses faves
Your top ten reputable companies and businesses
Proud to see Australia Post there at #2 as I've worked part time at my local post office/newsagent for the past 4 years. After all the abuse we cop, it's great to hear stuff like this
. THANK YOU.
What a great list. I can't immaging anyone aggreeing on everything there, but they're all pretty good places in their own right. Good to see a lot of variety in the tipe of business as well; shows that there are a lot of Australian companies doing their best!
As for "local homebrew shop", yep, mine (Oakleigh Brewcraft) is a friendly place that I'd frequent frequently if it wasn't for Grain and Grape. Service like that is good enough to drive/catch public transport accross Melbourne for!
