General homebrew discussion, tips and help on kit and malt extract brewing, and talk about equipment. Queries on sourcing supplies and equipment should go in The Store.

My guess would be you've picked up an infection. At my local HBS the boss just tossed a keg full of Bule Mountain Larger due to an infection. Smelled just like my first Coopers Larger kit made with sucrose!
For you're next batch, try bulk bottled water from supermarket and clean/sanitize your kit with same: should turn out better.
Good to see someone from Canada here: my wife is from New Brunswick (and she's all for me brewing!!)
BTW, any reason you use Cleric; it's an interesting username.
Steve.
Welcome to you as well. My second batch is a stout and it is awesome. I used Brita water and it certainly made a difference.
It's awesome that your wife is on board with your Hbing. Mine just gives me dirty looks and complains about the smell (and my excessive drinking).
The username is a reference to a B movie that I really like. I also use it on a screenwriting forum.
I just tried the lager again and most of the green apple flavour is gone. Perfect! I was needing a nice, refreshing beer and now I have one without breaking the bank.
Update #2:
This beer is as good as tomaco. However, as good as it is, I'm switching to AG. I'm a control freak and I need to now exactly what is in my beers. Not to mention how cheap it is to brew AG. I've decided to brew in a bag because I'm far too cheap to get (or make) all the equipment necessary (I don't like the idea of hot liquids in plastic, it's extremely unhealthy). The local Grape and Grain has the grains on for $4 a kg. So me thinks a IPA is in order. My mates will love it because they are beer snobs and they haven't tried a true IPA (nor have I). The best we get is Alexander Keith's here in Canada, which is as good as Bud. Actually it's worse; it's skunk piss. Cleric over and out.
