I never really got into AC/DC, which is not to say I don't like them, just never listened much to them much.

Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, Australian Crawl, INXS. Love them all. Not to forget The Angels.

Don't mind a bit of Violent Femmes either.

I went to see The Angels on Monday night. Absolutely awesome. Did all the hits, including the finale, Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again. Jeez, did I go off!

I am in envy Oliver, I used to love the Angels, I have only seen them once way back in 1983 in Townsville, me and about 20 army buddies went along, first in line, took up the whole front row and my mate next to me got to shake Doc's hand (bastard) but a fantastic night
and to top it off we all went into the local night club and demanded they play the Angels for the rest of the night, and they did

yeh I think I knew that Doc wasnt around anymore, the boys were interviewed on the radio here in Adelaide a few months ago but I had something else on
I will keep an eye out for them

it was funny in the interview as the broadcaster asked them what their most requested song was and they said something about where to go

ahh music and beer, if its influential americana,how about chuck berry,roy orbison,johnny cash,brian wilson,the byrds,the doors,jefferson airplane,hendricks(who had to go to england to be regarded,tut tut..)neil young,70's era fleetwood mac(with lindsay buckingham and stevie nicks) how about television, talking heads and pattie smith. A lot of shit in the early 80's except for dead kennedys, then guns & roses R.H.C.P. janes addiction,faith no more,frank black & his pixies & the violent femmes. nirvana & pearl jam rehashed the past but did it well, as did soundgarden,screaming trees and the black crows.the biggest and most inspirational band to come out of america in the last 30 years has easily got to be"tool"who are more like an english psycadellica band, ala floyd & rush,with a good dose of zeppelin thrown in(it dont get much better than that!!) ben harper gives fresh variety & i'll throw in a curly one,system of a down, for a cross between queen & dead kennedys!! shit tat quite a music rant for a beer site, but they both go hand in hand...

IMO, you can't go past hair metal for good drinking music. Motley Crue, Whitesnake, Skid Row, etc. It's all about loud guitars, beer and rooting. that's like all my favourite stuff. haha

I saw Doc Neesons Angels at Newcastle Workers about 18 Months ago and they went off!!! (Obviously Doc up front)

Australian bands.......anyone from 1965-1990 are great.

Best band, Tie between Angels, INXS, Chisel, LRB, Diesel, ACDC, all too good to split.

International band.......KISS, not their early 80's poofy shite (Man I am sick of I was Made for loving you), early 74-78 then 87-now are better. Their heavier stuff is better, like the album Revenge.
Alot of close 2nds.

Best Band Live........Tie between KISS front row in about 93 when they sang the good songs (+ strippers on stage who "Take it off").....and I saw Cheap Trick and the Angels at the Palais in Newcastle on the final gig of their tour......they jammed for 1 hour (all together)after closing and demanded the lights went out.................fargin awesome night that about 1991.

I havent come across another Buffalo fan in twenty years. I lilke your style. Amongst many other things, the cover of Volcanic Rock adorns the walls of the brewshed/music room.

Some of the heaviest Aussie music from that era - too heavy for their time.

We used to get them at Keira Boys High school dances in the mid seventies. Remember them blowing up a telephone booth on stage and Dave Tice jumping out of the flames in a superman costume.

Wish I had a turntable as I have hundreds of albums from that era on vinyl.

Muddy, I wasn't even born in the 70s. haha. I would have loved to have been born in about 1960 so I could have enjoyed the bands I like in their prime in the 70s like Uriah Heep, Blue Oyster Cult, Scorpions, Sabbath, Judas Priest etc.

Volcanic Rock and Dead Forever have recently been rereleased on LP too. You should check out Pagan Altar if you get a chance. They were around the late 70s/early 80s. To me it has a little bit of the same sound that Buffalo had, though Pagan Altar added more metal to it.

You should definitely pick up a turntable! I don't know how you can't have one with all those old LPs!

The whole britpop/manchester ear was a pretty big turning point in music.

Also recommend Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (US), the Dandys (of course).
