... and could have me labelled a sexist but what do you think of being served by a female in a HB shop?
Before I get leapt on, let me say that males and females can do most things in equal ability. There are many things that females can do better than males (including jelly wrestling and lesbianism) but sorry, I just can't get into talking beer with a chick.
And anyone who doesn't agree with me is gay ... there, I said it!

You'll probably be surprised how many females are on here and are the beer makers of the family!
The HBS I frequent is run by a husband and wife team and I have been served and advised by both and find they are as knowlegable as each other.
Dare I say it......but it might be you!

An intelligent man is sometimes forced to be drunk to spend time with his fools. (Ernest Hemingway)
On this topic, I was at Grain and Grape on saturday, and they had a brew demo on, and the brewer (can't remember his name, sorry) said that apparently the smell of boiling hops is offensive to the fairer sex, whereas guys almost never seem to mind it.
Just what he said, dunno how much hard data he has.

w00t!
I think you will find that most guys think of the end product and if you like beer then the smell is not unbearable, the lady of the house on most occasions doesnt like beer and is mainly worried about how the house is gonna smell, on the HBS thing my local is also run by a husband and wife team and they are also both very good and can hand over lots of knowledge

I do not care what you think. But I will say it anyway.CB wrote:... and could have me labelled a sexist but what do you think of being served by a female in a HB shop?

YOU are the problem. As you said yourself, women can do most things in equal ability to men. But YOU have the problem talking about beer with females. Consequently the problem lies with YOU.

Unlike some others here, I respect your opinion (whether it has merit or not), but in response will say this; I have not had any bad advice from women in HB shops but probably because I'm not the type to ask for advice usually.
Secondly, I am not gay, and I don't believe disagreement with you on any issue would either confirm or refute your allegation in anyway.
Perhaps you were just a little bored and in need of some light entertainment?
Not all homebrewers are total farkwits incapable of intelligent argument. If you want one...you know where to find me.
