The Beer Bible

Post by CB »

Anyone else had the chance to buy and read "The Beer Bible" by Willie Simpson? (Australian written and only just released)

Personally, I think you can save your money as it's a bit lightweight for the contributors to this forum.

There is a good insight into a number of international beers which he does rate quite objectively. I only wonder why the ratings didn't extend to australian brands. Possibly as he acts as a consultant to the industry and doesn't want to offend?

Good gift, but there's not a lot of new info

I'm reading it bit by bit in the shops without buying it. I agree that it is light. Of what I have read most has not been news to me.

Ticket price is a bit steep too.

Cheers,

Yeh I found that the reviews he gave on international beers was really the only section worth a read. I saw him on Saturday Kitchen the other day, he had a few good things to say about Australian beers.

Stay tune for a review of this book. Disclosure: It's put out by The Age, which I work for, and was given a copy to review.
