Preservatives and additives in home brew cans

I am wondering whether all brands of home brew cans are free from preservatives and additives. Coopers Australian Pale Ale specifically mentions on the can "No preservatives or additives" but I notice that other cans such as Tooheys Lager and Blackrock bitter make no such claim on the can. Does anyone have any information regarding this issue? Also, the same goes for the sugar packs that are added to the brew like Coopers Brew Enhancer 2.

I don't know for sure but I suspect most cans would be packaged without preservatives. I believe that they are canned at high temeratures which effectively pasturises the can & contents.

Hey gaggymoon...great name, I generally can taste preservatives + the major hangovers I get on purchased commercial beers....

I do not get hangovers on HB and I think it has alot to do with the "chemicals" that I taste in commercial brews.

Maybe I'll have to individually email each supplier and ask the question about their preservatives and additives as this will determine which ones to brew.

I'd be surprised if they add preservatives as yeast is generally pretty sensitive to preservatives. I'd be interested to hear how you get on with asking the breweries though.

The HB and micro brew (with yeast in a bottle) are rich source of vitamin B which help you not to get hangover.
